March 6th 2021

Dustin began his journey many years ago when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the young age of 15 months. He fought that battle and won. He was a true miracle. Fast forward to 2014 when Dustin suffered his first heart attack which he later found was caused due to the chemo treatments he received as a child. He would later find out that these treatments caused permanent damage to his heart. On December 25th, 2020 Dustin woke up not feeling well and was taken to the hospital where he was told that his heart was only functioning at 10% and that he would only have 8 weeks to live. This is very hard news for a father of 3 to take at the young age of 35. He visited with the transplant team at University of Iowa Hospitals who gave him hope asl long as the medicine continues to work but he was given a large amount of tasks he would need to complete before he can be a candidate for a heart transplant, one of them being financially stable to endure the costs associated with this life changing surgery. He needs our help so let’s do what we can to see that Dustin meets his goal of getting on the transplant list.
